ABOUT ELLE
Elle Martinez-Olson is a Chicago-based director and screenwriter. She graduated with a BFA in Directing, from DePaul University. In her time as an undergrad, she has written and directed multiple short films, primarily focusing on coming-of age stories about friendships, breakups, and the realities of growing-up. After attending a rigorous acting program in her hometown, (Miami, Florida) she continues to utilize her acting experience when developing characters and building relationships with the actors on set.
PHILOSOPHY
“Often with bittersweet endings, I strive to create authentic stories that remind us of our humanity. As a queer artist, I value writing from the voices of LGBTQ+ characters, in efforts to represent more queer stories in cinema. My goal is authentic vulnerability when casting and coaching actors, seeking dynamic and honest storytelling. I often mix realistic and whimsical production elements to create a unique and contrasting tone, with the protagonist’s emotional growth always at the forefront of the film.”
